Managing Work and Life Balance

Work-Life Balance is typically defined as the amount of time you spend doing your job versus the amount of time you spend with loved ones or pursuing personal interests and hobbies. For many, prioritizing personal life is a challenge when the goal of being successful at work has such high demands. Long work hours, over-time, inflexible schedules all create a level of stress that can easily become unmanageable if balance isn’t prioritized. Short-term stress can be helpful in challenging your energy and effort towards a specific goal, but prolonged stress can take a toll on your overall wellbeing. Creating and maintaining a work-life balance reduces the effects of prolonged stress and can lead to a successful, well-rounded life.

The unique nature of each of our lives and our fluctuating responsibilities means that work-life balance will be different for everyone! There is no one-size fits all approach to finding balance in your life.

Your Member Assistance Program (MAP) is available at no cost for you and your family / household members. Use it to:
  • • Access tools for balancing work and family commitments.
  • • Find guidance on addressing stress and anxiety.
  • • Discover parenting tools and insights.
  • • Learn healthy lifestyle tips.
